Junk Kouture - The Burden of Desire

Junk Kouture challenges students to create high-end wearable couture fashion from everyday junk to highlight that we all must waste less and reuse more. “The Burden of desire” is a dress created by four extremely talented, creative and hard-working BCS transition year students. Aptly named “The Burden of Desire” as we carry the consequences of past generations desires (global warming). The theme of the dress incorporated both global warming and Covid – highlighting global warming while emphasising the high usage of disposable masks and importance of utilising reusable masks. The team included, project manager Kate Barry, Designer Caitlin Hanafin, Dress maker Molly Lenehan and Model Rebecca Wallace.
